The story of the marriage of England’s King Arthur to Guinevere. The plot of illegitimate Mordred to gain the throne and Guinevere’s growing attachment to Sir Lancelot, threaten to topple Arthur and destroy his “round table” of knights.
This film starts out a little goofy, but by the end it exemplifies better than many other versions of the Arthur myth just how tragic the downfall of Camelot was. The musical was based on T.H. White’s Once and Future King, and the film version was directed by Joshua Logan, staring Richard Harris, Vanessa Redgrave, and Franco Nero.
